Seeking Candidates for the Open Board Position- time is running out
Applications for the open seat on the Governing Board will be available through Wednesday,October 19th, at the District Office. Inquiries from qualified citizens can be made by calling Rene McBride at 707-822-4619.
Sports at PU
If your child is participating in sports after school, they must either be enrolled and attending homework club, Boys and Girls Club, or go home prior to practice or watching a sports game on campus. They are NOT allowed to hang out on campus until the event starts. Parents/guardians will be called to pick up students that are unsupervised on campus. Thank you for helping keep all students safe.

CAASPP Scores for 2021-2022
We have again uploaded the scores to Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you were unable to view the results previously, please try again. You can access your child’s score report through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. After logging into your parent portal, you need to click on the three horizontal lines on the left, then select More. You will then select Assessments and choose a Language from the drop down menu. After completing these steps you are provided the option to Generate a report.
To learn more about your child’s scores, go to the Starting Smarter website at https://www.ca.startingsmarter.org/. There, you will find information about test results, sample test questions, free resources to support your child’s learning, and a guide to prepare for parent-teacher conferences.
Independent Study
If you are planning an absence of 3 or more days, you are encouraged to notify our office staff and the teacher to provide independent study. Up to 15 cumulative instructional days of independent study are permitted in a school year. EC Section 51747(h)(2)(i),
.A signed learning agreement from a parent/guardian of a student who is less than 18 years of age shall constitute the parent/guardian's permission for the student to receive instruction through course-based independent study. (Education Code 51749.6)
To request independent study, please contact the school office prior to the planned absences.
Fall Carnival

Keeping our community safe
Fentanyl (an extremely potent and dangerous synthetic opioid) continues to be a major contributor to drug overdoses in California, including among youth. Fentanyl-related overdose deaths in Calirornia’s youth ages 10-19 years increased 625% from 2018-2020. There are many challenges that our youth are faced with and you can help them navigate these challenges by having conversations and monitoring social media. Halloween Parade
On October 31, we will provide the option for students to dress in costume and will welcome parents to view the variety of costumes. Unlike years past, this year we ask that students come to class in costume and we will have the parade after attendance, lunch count, and morning mindfulness. Parents are welcome to come on campus after mindfulness and stand on the outside of the track, where the students will circle. Students will be on the track around 9:00, after winding through campus. When on campus please be safe, respectful, and responsible. Please park vehicles only in the Pacific Union parking lot, or Janes Road. The parking lots north of our campus do NOT permit parking unless for a patient at the medical facility.
If your child chooses to not participate in Halloween, they are welcome to go to the library during this time for an opportunity to play games, do puzzles, read, or other activities.
Author Festival
We are lucky to have an award-winning author, Valerie Hobbs, come to our campus this week. This opportunity will be happening on Thursday, 10/20. For more information on this talented writer, you can look at her website here.
Drop, Cover and Hold on!
California is located on top of two major tectonic plates; the North American Plate and the Pacific Plate. The state is one of the most seismically active regions in the world. These two plates grind past each other in opposite directions at 1.5 inches per year. The friction caused by this motion causes a release of pressure that leads to sudden jerking movements once in a while. These jerking movements emit waves of energy that cause the ground to shake (sometimes so violently that it destroys buildings and other structures).
There is no way to stop an earthquake from happening. However, people who live in seismically active zones like in California have to learn to adapt and be prepared for major earthquake events to be safer when they do occur.
Thursday, 10/20, is the Great ShakeOut, where millions of people will participate in earthquake drills. Our school will be participating in an earthquake drill and we encourage you to also have one at home. This is a great time to have conversations at home on how you would keep safe in the event of an earthquake. Here are resources if you would like more information.

Deportes en PU
Si su hijo participa en deportes después de la escuela, debe estar inscrito y asistir al club de tareas, Boys and Girls Club, o irse a casa antes de practicar o ver un juego deportivo en el campus.se NO les permite pasar el rato en el campus hasta que comience el evento. Se llamará a los padres/tutores para que recojan a los estudiantes que no estén supervisados en el campus. Gracias por ayudar a mantener seguros a todos los estudiantes.

Puntajes de CAASPP para 2021-2022
Nuevamente hemos subido los puntajes al Portal para padres de Infinite Campus. Si no pudo ver los resultados anteriormente, inténtelo de nuevo. Puede acceder al informe de calificaciones de su hijo a través del Portal para padres de Infinite Campus. Después de iniciar sesión en su portal para padres, debe hacer clic en las tres líneas horizontales a la izquierda y luego seleccionar Más. Luego seleccionará Evaluaciones y elegirá un Idioma del menú desplegable. Después de completar estos pasos, se le brinda la opción de generar un informe.

Estudio Independiente
Si está planeando una ausencia de 3 o más días, le animamos a que notifique al personal de nuestra oficina y al maestro para proporcionar estudio independiente. Se permiten hasta 15 días acumulativos de instrucción de estudio independiente en un año escolar. EC Sección 51747(h)(2)(i),.
Un acuerdo de aprendizaje firmado por un padre/tutor de un estudiante menor de 18 años constituirá el permiso del padre/tutor para que el estudiante reciba instrucción a través del estudio independiente. (Código de Educación 51749.6)

Manteniendo segura a nuestra comunidad
El fentanilo (un opioide sintético extremadamente potente y peligroso) sigue contribuyendo de manera importante a las sobredosis de drogas en California, incluso entre los jóvenes.
Las muertes por sobredosis relacionadas con el fentanilo en jóvenes de California de 10 a 19 años aumentaron un 625 % entre 2018 y 2020. Hay muchos desafíos que enfrentan nuestros jóvenes y usted puede ayudarlos a superar estos desafíos al tener conversaciones y monitorear las redes sociales. Desfile de Halloween
El 31 de octubre, ofreceremos a los estudiantes la opción de disfrazarse y les daremos la bienvenida a los padres para que vean la variedad de disfraces. A diferencia de años anteriores, este año pedimos que los estudiantes vengan a clase disfrazados y tendremos el desfile después de la asistencia, el conteo del almuerzo y la atención plena por la mañana. Los padres son bienvenidos a venir al campus después de la atención plena y pararse en el exterior de la pista, donde los estudiantes darán vueltas. Los estudiantes estarán en la pista alrededor de las 9:00, después de recorrer el campus. Cuando esté en el campus, sea seguro, respetuoso y responsable. Estacione los vehículos solo en el estacionamiento de Pacific Union o en Janes Road. Los estacionamientos al norte de nuestro campus NO permiten estacionamiento a menos que sea para un paciente en el centro médico.
Si su hijo elige no participar en Halloween, puede ir a la biblioteca durante este tiempo para tener la oportunidad de jugar, armar rompecabezas, leer u otras actividades.
Festival de Autores

¡Agáchese, cúbrase y sujétense!
California está ubicada sobre dos grandes placas tectónicas; la de América y la Pacífico . El estado es una de las regiones más sísmicamente activas del mundo. Estas dos placas se muelen entre sí en direcciones opuestas a 1,5 pulgadas por año. La fricción causada por este movimiento provoca una liberación de presión que conduce a movimientos repentinos de vez en cuando. Estos movimientos bruscos emiten ondas de energía que hacen temblar el suelo (a veces tan violentamente que destruyen edificios y otras estructuras).
No hay forma de evitar que ocurra un terremoto. Sin embargo, las personas que viven en zonas sísmicamente activas como en California tienen que aprender a adaptarse y estar preparados para los grandes terremotos para estar más seguros cuando ocurran.
El jueves 20 de octubre es el Gran ShakeOut, donde millones de personas participarán en simulacros de terremoto. Nuestra escuela participará en un simulacro de terremoto y le animamos a que también tenga uno en casa. Este es un buen momento para conversar en casa sobre cómo se mantendría a salvo en caso de un terremoto. Aquí hay recursos si desea obtener más información.
