Dear Pacific Union Families,
We would like to welcome back returning families and extend a warm welcome to new families joining our Pacific Union community. Our goal at Pacific Union is to have students become lifelong learners who will contribute productively to the world they inherit. We will work together to provide students with a rich learning experience, and strive to meet the individual needs of all our students.

Jr High Welcome Back Barbecue and Information Night, Monday 8/22, 5:30-6:30
Jr. High will be having their back to school night before school starts. They will be hosting a barbecue on Monday, August 22, at 5:30 with an important informational meeting. Families that are unable to attend will meet with the homeroom teacher for a pre trimester meeting within the first 2 weeks of school.
TK & Kindergarten Orientation, 8/23, 12:00-1:00
We invite TK and Kinder parents and students to join us for an orientation on Tuesday, August 23th from 12:00-1:00pm where you will meet your child’s teacher, see their classroom, and be able to ask any questions you may have. We cannot wait to meet you and look forward to working with you this year!

Morning Drop off: Classroom doors and supervision will be provided beginning at 8:00 a.m. Students that arrive between 7:45 - 8:00 are to go directly to the cafeteria where there will be adult supervision. All students are welcome to enjoy a free breakfast in the cafeteria daily before 8:20. All students will enter and exit through the main entrance.
Transportation: Please check the website or reach out to the front office for our bus route and schedule.
Breakfast and Lunch: For the 2022-2023 school year all students will receive free breakfast and lunch regardless of income if you would like them to. All families will still need to complete an “Income Verification Form” in order for the District to maintain its federal and state funding. This form will be included in the back to school packets or can be downloaded from the link above. Please fill it out!
Pick-Up: TK-3rd grades will be in front of the school with their teachers. Students in grades TK-3 that are awaiting an older sibling to be dismissed at 3:00 have the possibility to sign up for this Extended Care Program from 2:30-3:00 Tuesday-Friday. If you were enrolled last year, you are already enrolled for this year. If you would like to enroll for the first time, it will be on a first-come, first-serve basis, and there will be a waiting list. You can contact Elizabeth Simovich at esimovich@pacificunionschool.org. After school, students in grades 4th-8th will walk to the front of the school.
After School Program: We have exciting news! Pacific Union has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods in offering after school care. The after school program is located on site and ran by the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods. The Boys and Girls club offers before school care 7:00am – 8:00am every school day and after school care is open from school dismissal to 6:30pm every day. Program fees are $4.00 per hour for the first child and $3.75 for any additional siblings. Fees will be waived for children who qualify for the free-or-reduced lunch program, are English language learners, or are homeless/in foster care. The after school program openings are very limited. COVID 19: After 2 years of a seemingly endless pandemic, things are shifting into a more predictable routine. We will continue to follow the strong recommendations put forth by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and our local health officials. Masking indoors, testing and quarantine, ventilation, and hand hygiene continue to be strong recommendations from health officials. Please remember, at this point in time they are recommendations and we understand that our community has different points of view regarding these recommendations. We are just trying to make sure that we continue to have a healthy staff to provide a positive, safe, and healthy educational environment to our students.
Testing on campus will move from surveillance testing to response testing using rapid antigen tests. Testing will be available to individual students or staff when they are experiencing symptoms, have been exposed, or returning from holiday breaks and travel. If a person tests positive they can test on day 5 and return on day 6 if they are negative. If the person does not test they are asked to stay home for 10 days. We are asking anyone that doesn’t feel well and has symptoms to take care of themselves and stay home regardless if they test positive for COVID. We want to keep everyone healthy and reduce risk.
We have COVID tests available before school starts. We would like to encourage all families to come by the school on Monday 8/22 from 3:30 - 4:30 to pick up tests. You can also come to the office to pick up COVID tests between the hours of 8:00 and 4:00 weekdays. The tests will also be available at the Jr. High Barbeque/Information night, as well as the TK/Kindergarten orientation. Please test your child before the first day of school and notify the school if your child has tested positive. We feel the health of our community is of utmost importance and want to thank you in helping keep us all safe.

COVID-19: Después de 2 años de una pandemia aparentemente interminable, las cosas están cambiando a una rutina más predecible. Continuaremos siguiendo las fuertes recomendaciones presentadas por el Departamento de Salud Pública de California (CDPH) y nuestros funcionarios de salud locales. El enmascaramiento en interiores, las pruebas y la cuarentena, la ventilación y la higiene de las manos siguen siendo recomendaciones firmes de los funcionarios de salud. Recuerde, en este momento son recomendaciones y entendemos que nuestra comunidad tiene diferentes puntos de vista con respecto a estas recomendaciones. Solo estamos tratando de asegurarnos de seguir teniendo un personal saludable para brindar un entorno educativo positivo, seguro y saludable para nuestros estudiantes.
Las pruebas en el campus pasarán de las pruebas de vigilancia a las pruebas de respuesta utilizando pruebas rápidas de antígenos. Las pruebas estarán disponibles para estudiantes individuales o personales cuando experimenten síntomas, hayan estado expuestos o regresen de vacaciones y viajes. Si una persona da positivo, puede realizar la prueba el día 5 y regresar el día 6 si es negativa. Si la persona no se hace la prueba, se le pide que se quede en casa durante 10 días. Le pedimos a cualquier persona que no se sienta bien y tenga síntomas que se cuide y se quede en casa, independientemente de si da positivo por COVID. Queremos mantener a todos saludables y reducir el riesgo.
