Bus Changes
For the remaining Mondays of the 2022-2023 school year, a Northern Humboldt bus will be dropping off students at the Town and Country/Boyd Road stop. This will only be in effect for the remaining 7 Mondays that we will have school this year.
On Tuesdays-Fridays, the Town and Country/Boyd Road students will be on Bus 1 with all other students. The Town and Country/Boyd Road stop will be the third stop on the route. Other stop times on the route may be impacted by this. Please know that there will be ample seating for all students that ride the bus. Thank you for your understanding.
Energy drinks and cell phones
What do they have in common? Neither of them are to be used during the school day. Thank you for helping your student make strong choices at school.
Summer Program
Summer seems so far away but also right around the corner! In preparation for the coming months I’m reaching out to parents who would like to reserve a spot in the Boys & Girls Club summer camp program here at Pacific Union.
If you are interested in having your child attend please provide the following information no later than MAY 5, 2023:
· Approximate dates and times your child will attend.
· Grade your child will be in for the 2023-2024 school year.
The camp will run for six weeks of the nine week summer. Below, a list of dates the camp will be open and closed is provided:
· June 15-25=CLOSED
· June 26-July 14=OPEN
· July 15-23=CLOSED
· July 24-August 11=OPEN
· August 12-20=CLOSED

Sex Ed 7th and 8th Grade
Our school, in conjunction with Humboldt Independent Practice Association site based Wellness Center, is providing sexual education presentations to the 7th and 8th grade classes in adherence with the California Education Code, Sections 51930-51939. The information presented is medically accurate, developmentally appropriate, free of bias, and informed by the California Health Education Content Standards. A Zoom Parent/Guardian Preview Night will be offered on Wednesday, May 3rd at 5:30. Here is the link to the scheduled Zoom meeting. If you do not wish your child/dependent to attend this course, California Education Code requires written notification.
Eder Galindo Scholarship
The Pacific Union District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC) is proud to offer scholarships to Latino/Hispanic high school graduates who have graduated from Pacific Union and are pursuing higher education. Please share this information with eligible graduating seniors. The link to apply is here.
Staffing changes
As the Pacific Union principal, I’ve made the challenging decision to resign from this position. I’ve greatly enjoyed serving you as the site principal but at this time also acknowledge that after 28 years in education, I need to take better care of my health and family. Thank you so much for the opportunities to serve as your principal. Please read this letter regarding the Principal position as well as the Supervisor of Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation position changes.

Cambios de autobús
Para los lunes restantes del año escolar 2022-2023, un autobús de Northern Humboldt dejará a los estudiantes en la parada Town and Country/Boyd Road. Esto solo estará vigente durante los 7 lunes restantes que tendremos clases este año.
De martes a viernes, los estudiantes de Town y Country/Boyd Road estarán en el autobús 1 con todos los demás estudiantes. La parada Town and Country/Boyd Road será la tercera parada de la ruta. Otros tiempos de parada en la ruta pueden verse afectados por esto. Tenga en cuenta que habrá amplios asientos para todos los estudiantes que viajan en el autobús. Gracias por su comprensión.

Programa de verano
¡El verano parece tan lejano pero también a la vuelta de la esquina! En preparación para los próximos meses, me comunico con los padres que deseen reservar un lugar en el programa de campamento de verano Boys & Girls Club aquí en Pacific Union.
Si está interesado en que su hijo asista, proporcione la siguiente información a más tardar 5 DE MAYO DE 2023:
· Fechas y horas aproximadas a las que asistirá su hijo.
· Grado en el que estará su hijo para el año escolar 2023-2024.
El campamento tendrá una duración de seis semanas de las nueve semanas de verano. A continuación, se proporciona una lista de las fechas en que el campamento estará abierto y cerrado:

El Comité Asesor del Idioma Inglés del Distrito Pacific Union (DELAC) se enorgullece de ofrecer becas a graduados de secundaria latinos/hispanos que se hayan graduado de Pacific Union y estén cursando estudios superiores. Como director de Pacific Union, tomé la desafiante decisión de renunciar a esta posición. Disfruté mucho servirle como director del sitio, pero en este momento también reconozco que después de 28 años en educación, necesitas cuidar mejor mi salud y mi familia.
